How this started
We were the printer behind other people's cheque orders for years. Then we did the maths.
Print & Cheques Now has been a Calgary print and forms shop since 2006 — family-owned, Canadian-owned, still in the same building. Cheques were one line of the business.
What we kept noticing was the gap. A business would order through its branch, wait a week and a half, and receive a cheque with none of the security features we were already running as standard on our own presses. No hologram foil. No heat-sensitive ink. And nobody had checked the transit number before it printed.
They weren't paying for better cheques. They were paying for the introduction.
So we became a CPA Self-Accredited Printer — Payments Canada #1010 — and started selling direct, with the foil and the ink and the proof step included rather than sold. Then we added the free-cheque bonus, because if you are cutting out a middleman you should be able to give the saving to the customer instead of keeping it.
That was 46,000+ Canadian businesses ago.
Why listen to a printer instead of your bank
The bank doesn't print your cheques either.
Your bank outsources cheque printing to a third-party partner — usually D+H / Finastra®, or Deluxe® in the case of TD and CIBC. You're ordering from a printer either way. The only question is which one, at what price, and with which security features included.
The MICR line decides whether a cheque clears. Not the logo.
Canadian cheques clear through the Payments Canada system on the magnetic-ink line at the bottom — your account, transit and institution numbers. Not on which company printed the paper, and not on which bank's branding it carries.
Print & Cheques Now is a CPA Self-Accredited Printer, Payments Canada #1010, printing to Standard 006 — the same specification the bank-channel printers use. Which is exactly why 46,000+ Canadian businesses stopped ordering through the branch.

Standard 006
Payments Canada specification, met on every cheque we print — laser, manual and personal.
Security features most bank-channel cheques charge extra for — or don't offer at all.
Cheque fraud starts with a cheque that's easy to alter or photocopy. Every laser and manual business cheque we print ships with hologram gold foil, heat-sensitive ink, micro-printing, chemical-reactive paper and a void pantograph.
Standard. Not an upgrade tier, not an upsell at checkout, not "available on select products."

A proof step, because a wrong transit number costs you a payroll run.
Self-serve bank portals take what you type and print it. If a digit is wrong, you find out when a supplier's cheque bounces back — two weeks and a reprint later.
We proof every order against your account details before anything prints. It is the single most valuable thing we do, and it is the reason our Google rating sits at 4.9 out of 5 from 800+ verified Google reviews.
